Congratulations to the following recipients of Bluegrass in the Schools mini-grants and Fletcher Bright Memorial Grants for Young Musicians in April and May of 2023.

BGIS mini-grants were made to Bel Canto Cedar Valley, for a presentation by Monroe Crossing in Cedar Falls, IA, for 150-200 students, age 4-college, including a music lab performance, a musical instrument petting zoo, and a college level bluegrass master class; and to Greenville Central School District for a bluegrass presentation at the Potter Hollow (NY) School House for 80 fourth graders.

Bright Grants helped Bayla Davis to attend the Bela Fleck Banjo Camp in Brevard, NC; Judah Davis to attend the Bryan Sutton Guitar Camp in Brevard, NC; Raelee Deaton to attend the Ozark Mountain Music Association-hosted Bluegrass Performance Camp in Branson, MO, to study mandolin, fiddle, and vocals; and Samuel Mougin to attend Steve Kaufman Kamps, to study acoustic bass
