A Bluegrass in the Schools report from Missouri

Dec 1, 2023 | News

Dear IBMA Foundation:

I am writing to express our gratitude for the Bluegrass in the Schools Mini-grant. With the $250 grant, our school was able to host a bluegrass concert assembly with a local band called Number 9 Coal. The concert took place November 6, 2023. Aspire Academy is a Pre-K through second grade elementary school located in St. Louis, Missouri.

This has been a unique experience for the students. We appreciate your support more than you know! The students were so excited to attend the concert, and they enjoyed listening to old-time and bluegrass music and learning about the different instruments.

To show our gratitude, my students and I have created a thank-you video and signage and took photos to show our appreciation.

Sincerely,

Shyla Wadlington, School Librarian
