Over the past weekend, the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival took place in Westport, Ireland (June 7-9, 2024).
On behalf of myself and the festival organizing committee, I would like to thank the IBMA Foundation for believing in our vision and supporting our unique university project.
The project included a visit of two days by the students of East Tennessee State University to the World Academy of Irish Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, a very successful symposium and a cross Atlantic jam during the festival, and a range of gigs by the ETSU band across Ireland.
The symposium was filmed, recorded, and photographed by the festival technical team, and we are putting together a high quality file to share with you as well as the academic and bluegrass organisations which were part of the event. We are already in the process of putting together a working plan for continuation of the project in our 2025 event.
Thanks again.
Kind regards,
Uri Kohen – Festival Producer and project manager, Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival
