Call for bluegrass college band showcases

May 2, 2025 | News

One of the best parts of IBMA’s World of Bluegrass event each fall is the College Bluegrass Band Showcase, featuring impressive talent from colleges and universities across the country. In addition to the entertainment value, college band showcases are often a window into the future of bluegrass music as we have witnessed performances from folks like Aynsley Porchak, Wyatt Ellis, the Price Sisters, Catherine “BB” Bowness, Hazel Royer, Bronwyn Keith-Hines, John Meador, and Becky Buller, among others!

Directors of bluegrass bands and ensembles are encouraged to contact Nancy Cardwell at info@bluegrassfoundation.org by the end of May to secure their spot in the showcase, scheduled for September 19-20 on the Youth Stage in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Colleges confirmed to appear so far include Dennison University (Ohio), East Tennessee State University (TN), Ferrum College (VA), Morehead State University (KY), Pellissippi State Community College (TN), The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (NC), the University of Tennessee – Knoxville (TN), and Warren Wilson College (NC).
