Make plans now to attend the IBMA Foundation Bluegrass College Band Showcase!
The following twelve bands from nine states have been invited to showcase at the annual IBMA Foundation Bluegrass College Band Showcase Friday and Saturday evenings, September 19 and 20, from 6-10:30 p.m. at the Youth Stage in Chattanooga, Tennessee during IBMA’s World of Bluegrass week. Set times have not been confirmed yet and band order may change, so be sure to double check schedules as the time nears. We look forward to seeing you in Chattanooga!
Friday, Sept. 19:
The East Tennessee State University Bluegrass Pride band (directed by Dan Boner)
The University of Tennessee-Knoxville Bluegrass Band (directed by Evie Laden)
The Mountain Music Ambassadors from the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music at Morehead State University (directed by Daxson Lewis)
Colorado College Bluegrass Ensemble (directed by Keith Reed)
Denison University Bluegrass Ensemble (directed by Adam Schlenker)
The UNG (University of North Georgia) String Band (directed by Esther Morgan–Ellis)
Saturday, Sept. 20:
Pellissippi State Community College Bluegrass Band (directed by Larry Vincent)
Warren Wilson College Bluegrass Band (directed by Natalya Weinstein Miller)
The OCTC Capital Bluegrass Band at Owensboro Community College (directed by Scott Napier)
Orchestra Appalachia at Ferrum College (directed by Emily Tucker)
Tigertown Roots at Clemson University (directed by Ryan Wilson)
The Berklee College of Music Bluegrass Ensemble (directed by Tony Watt)
A first-time College Band Jam Session & Pizza Networking event for the college showcase bands is scheduled for Friday night, September 19, at a location to be announced in Chattanooga, following the first night of college band showcases. The event is sponsored by IBMA Foundation board member, Laurie Greenberg.
On Saturday afternoon, September 20, check the schedule for the Bluegrass College Band Info Session, where interested high school and college musicians and their families can hear about bluegrass programs, degree programs, student bands, and scholarships from students and directors at the colleges and universities present. This presentation, as well as the Bluegrass College Band Showcases, are open to the public.
