Arnold Shultz Fund report from Azere Wilson

Jun 30, 2024 | News

I want to thank the IBMA Foundation again for the Arnold Shultz grant from last year and to give you an update. I just received my CDs in the mail, and my vinyl albums are on their way! My digital release date was June 15 (2024), and I am over the moon!

Receiving the Arnold Shultz grant provided me with a deep sense of support amidst uncertainty surrounding what it means to be an artist embarking on this particular work within the roots music genre. I was and am so grateful to know there are people who believe in me. Thank you!

This grant also went full circle and helped me to be able to include another former Arnold Shultz grant recipient on my album. Tray Wellington’s beautiful banjo playing can be heard on four of the tracks.

Again, thanks so much for being a part of bringing my vision to life!
