Fred Bisel workshops to benefit Terry Baucom Bluegrass Education Grant

Aug 4, 2025 | News

Fred Bisel has been writing tablature for all of Terry Baucom’s recorded banjo tunes and breaks, in preparation for teaching workshops based on “Bauc’s” unique, driving style. His first book is titled, The Study of Terry Baucom Style Banjo, Volume 1.

With the full support of Cindy Baucom, Terry’s wife, Bisel is teaching  workshops, with proceeds going to the IBMA Foundation’s Terry Baucom Bluegrass Education grants. Bisel has already presented workshops at Clemson University and East Tennessee State University in collaboration with Paige Capos.

“We are thrilled to hear from Mr. Bisel and read through his first volume of Terry Baucom banjo transcriptions,” said Nancy Cardwell, IBMA Foundation executive director. “If more people could learn to play banjo like Terry Baucom, the world would indeed be a better place. We can definitely use the donations from the workshop to help applicants who need financial help with bluegrass camp tuition, instrument repair, lessons, or other educational bluegrass materials. Thank you, Fred and Cindy! Your kindness will make a difference to many!”
