Bluegrass fans, musicians, and community members are asked to help shape the Foundation’s grantmaking priorities for the next 3–5 years
NASHVILLE, TN — [September 9, 2026] — The IBMA Foundation today announced the launch of a strategic planning process to guide its work over the next three to five years. As part of that process, the Foundation is inviting the bluegrass community to share its views through a short public survey.
The survey asks respondents to weigh in on where the Foundation should focus its resources in support of the Foundation’s mission of building a brighter future for bluegrass music. Responses will directly inform the priorities the Foundation’s board of directors adopts in its new strategic plan.
“Bluegrass has always been a community-driven music, and we believe our philanthropy should be shaped by that same community,” said Trisha Tubbs, Board Chair of The IBMA Foundation. “This survey is a chance for anyone who loves this music to help decide what we fund and why. We want to hear from you whether you’re a lifelong picker, a festival volunteer, an industry professional, or someone who just discovered bluegrass last year.”
Since its founding in 2007, the IBMA Foundation has enabled people who love bluegrass music to ensure its vibrant future through donations, bequests, and other planned gifts. These gifts fund programs, grants and scholarships supporting bluegrass-related education, professional development, and cultural preservation. The Foundation operates independently of, but in close partnership with, the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA).
The survey is open to the public and available at https://form.jotform.com/262447662729165 through October 1. The Foundation encourages musicians, industry professionals, educators, donors, and fans at every level of involvement with bluegrass music to participate.
Following the survey period, the Foundation’s board will incorporate the findings alongside input from staff, grantees, and board members to finalize its strategic plan, expected to be adopted in fiscal year 2027.
