On September 4, 2022, music lovers gathered for a benefit supporting the J. D. Crowe Banjo Scholarship. The event featured delicious barbecue and refreshments as well as music from Kentucky’s own Wolfpen Branch, which includes IBMA Foundation board member Arthur Hancock IV on guitar.
Hosted by the Hancock Family at the Stoney Point Jamboree on Stone Farm in Paris, Kentucky, the event raised $8,850 for the scholarship. Attendees included Crowe’s friends and family. The Hancocks were instrumental in the creation of the J. D. Crowe Banjo Scholarship and hope to host a similar event annually to honor J. D. and grow the newly created scholarship. The 2022 recipient of the scholarship was Max Allard, a banjo composition major at Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
